Russian university successfully completes trials of world’s 1st Covid-19 vaccine

On July 13, a piece of news is spread on
every NEWS portal and social media platform that the Russian Medical University
(Sechinov University of
Russia) successfully completing human trials of the world’s first
COVID-19 vaccine.
‘TASS’ a Russian news agency is the source of news that the Russian scientists have
successfully completed human trials and the vaccine is absolutely safe.
The
University started the first trial on 18 June and the second
trial on 23 June. If the claim of Russia comes true then it will be the first
coronavirus vaccine by which we can get rid of the virus. Many nations of the
world including India, are busy preparing coronavirus vaccine.
University claims that it is going to the forefront of
producing the world’s first vaccine, named Gam-COVID-Vac Lyo.
According to the main researcher of a Russian university, all
human trials of the vaccine have been completed, but only 38 volunteers (first
group involved 18 volunteers and the second group involved 20 volunteers) were
involved in the study.
After vaccination, all volunteers would be kept in isolation in the hospital for 28 days.
The report proves that volunteers
of the first and second groups are forming a better immune response after injections
of the vaccine.

According to Alexander Lukashev, director of (Institute of Medical Parasitology Tropical and Vector-Born Diseases) Sechnov University's says, "Our aim was to successfully produce the vaccine of COVID-19 to protect humans." He further added that all aspects of the vaccine have been tested for the safety of all humans and it is expected that if all the permission is received then it will be available in the market by September.
But, according to the WHO (World Health Organization),
any vaccine is not considered safe to be used on masses unless it successfully
goes through three phases (Phase-2 requires at least a hundred
volunteers and thousands across regions and countries in Phase-3) of human trials.
It's very early to declare that the vaccine is safe for human use although it has tremendous potential, Scientific proof is
needed.
